The dark theme dashboard enhances the night riding experience; eases the strain on the eyes.

Electric scooter manufacturer, Ather Energy has taken yet another step to enhance the Ather 450’s riding experience. The company recently rolled out its seventh over-the-air (OTA) upgrade for the Ather 450. According to the update, the electric scooter will now get a dark theme on its dashboard for an enhanced night riding experience and improved visibility. Apart from this, the update also adds other enhancements like a more responsive keyboard, and the ability to save previous riding modes.

Ather 450 Upgraded

Owners can manually make a choice between light and dark themes from the ‘Setting’ menu. They can also choose the auto feature that switches on the dark theme from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The light theme is activated during the daytime. This new theme is said to reduce the amount of light on the screen thereby easing the strain on the eyes and making the ride more comfortable at night.

Ather 450 comes with three riding modes namely Eco, Ride, and Sport. While Eco offers 75 kms range, Ride and Sport have a claimed range of 65 kms and 55 kms, respectively. The ‘Save previous riding modes’ option automatically selects the last used riding mode when the scooter is started. This way the rider can use the same riding mode unless he or she want to make a switch. Besides this, the company has also made other enhancements to its AI like updating the onscreen keyboard to make it more responsive.

Under the shell, Ather 450 is powered by a 7.2 bhp BLDC electric motor, which gets its power from a 2.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The torque output is rated at 20.5 Nm. The battery pack of Ather 450 takes about 4 hours to charge fully through a 5-ampere socket.
