In its latest iteration, the Audi A4 is a mighty impressive car. The only complaint that anyone will have with it is that it doesn’t offer the choice of a diesel engine. Now, however, the carmaker will introduce a 190hp 2.0-litre diesel motor on the A4 sometime in February.
The prime cause of the delay in the launch of the diesel model is because the 2.0-litre motor had to be down-graded from its Euro-VI compliance to Euro IV to make it suitable to the lower-grade fuel that’s available in India.
This engine, making, 190hp is 15hp stronger than the older A4’s 2.0-litre diesel powerplant. It will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic box as standard, though a six-speed manual gearbox could also be made available at a later stage.
The diesel A4 is a rival to cars like the Mercedes-Benz C220d and the BMW 320d. Like the petrol variant, expect Audi to price the diesel model competitively.
