With the growth in the new car market, the used car market of India is also maturing pretty quickly. Catering to almost all the segments of customers, the used car market has plenty of options that are enough to satisfy all customers. However, there are some cars that seem like more of a deal than the other cars, and the sellers are eager to get rid of these cars at prices that seem low when compared to other cars. Let’s take a look at all these options and the reasons for these cars being sold at lower prices.
Chevrolet Cruze
Upon launch, the Chevrolet Cruze was one of the fastest cars in the segment. While the brand did no wonders to the car sales and it never got to the point where one would term the car a hit, there were a few speed lovers who bought the car for its performance. Cruze is available at pretty affordable price on the online used car space. The reason behind this being that the company has already left India and the used car prices of this brand has taken a hit. However, the US maker is still providing services in India and combine that with the low price of Cruze, and it becomes a good option.
Honda Civic
People who bought the Civic before it was stopped in India, have kept their cars thoroughly maintained. Now as Honda has launched the latest generation of Civic in India, the prices of the older model are sure to go down. The kind of kit offered on the older Civic and the reliability and smoothness of a Honda car surely does makes the older Civic a worthwhile purchase.
Honda City
Honda City is not only a strong seller in India, but the car performs well globally as well. Now that the Japanese giant has launched the latest generation model of City in the market, the used car value of third generation Honda City models has dropped considerably. Again the reliability and smoothness of Honda along with the dropping prices make the used City a worthwhile deal.
Honda Accord
Honda launched the first Accord in India in 2001, and while the new generation model is sure a hybrid one, there was a time between 2014 and 2016 when Accord was discontinued in the Indian market. This was right before the latest generation of the car introduced in India. Therefore, apart from the latest generation model, there are quite a few models in the market that are going for very good prices, and the presence of Honda badge should take care of the rest.
Skoda Superb
Skoda Superb is quite a package in it segment, apart from looks and performance, the build quality of Superb is also solid and it is packed with features. However, the terrible after-sales service experience and reputation of Skoda in India has led to owners letting go of their cars at pretty low prices in India.
Skoda Laura
Skoda Laura, yes, you saw it in the name, Laura was launched as the new Octavia in global markets, however, the lack of popularity of Octavia in India forced Skoda to go with the Laura name in India. This is where the maker erred and did they err badly, the connotations of the name combined with the poor after sales service of Skoda and the lack of availability of old model’s parts, make the Laura a low-priced car in the used Indian market.
Ford Endeavour
The search for affordable full-size SUVs for many people comes to and end at the last generation Ford Endeavour. A well-maintained example of the same fetches a pretty good value in the used car market. The recent ban by green body of India on old diesel and petrol cars in the areas around Delhi is a major reason why old models of Endevaours are turning up in the used car market in India.
Mitsubishi Pajero
Mitsubishi Pajero was once a symbol of status in Indian families. Good at off-roading and built strongly, a well-kept model of the same car can be had for a relatively affordable price in India. The lack of after sales service and the banning of old diesel cars are the 2 major reasons why Pajero is available for such low prices in India.
According to statistics, the country's largest automaker sold 42,620 units in the fast-growing segment last month, ahead of its domestic competitor Mahindra & Mahindra. Mahindra sold 36,205 units, followed by Hyundai Motor India with 32,991.
