Audi is planning to kick- off the 2020 year with the launch of its flagship SUV AudiQ8.
The head of Audi India confirmed the launch of the SUV on January 15, 2020. However, the SUV would be available in India via import which means that the Audi Q8 prices would be subjected to all the duties and taxes. The estimated ex-showroom price of the SUV is pegged at Rs. 1 Crore.
The Audi Q8 is likely to get a petrol engine as the diesel variant is expected to arrive after the BSVI norms kick in.
The Indian petrol variant will be expectedly powered by a3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that will pump out 340hp of power. The Q8 SUV would be the first car to get the updated looks from the manufacturer that includes a large front grille.
The other SUVs that will receive this kind of treatment is the Q3 and Q7 models.
What set the Q8 apart is the presence of a coupé-like roofline and frameless doors, flared wheel arches, full-width taillights and distinctive LED headlights.
The interior of the SUV includes a premium looking dashboard that has the Audi’s latest dual-touchscreen control system that was first seen on new Audi A6.
The SUV has a 10.1-inch infotainment system that controls infotainment and navigation functions.
While the one below the screen sports a 8.1-inch screen that controls the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. The dashboard gets a minimalistic look with this layout setting.
The Audi Q8 will give competition to the likes of Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne and the upcoming BMW X6 which is expected to be launched in the year 2020.
