Bajaj Auto has launched the BS6 Platina 100 (Kick-Start) at an introductory price of Rs 47,763 (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi) in the country. The Platina 100 ES (Electric Start) Alloy variant is priced at Rs 55,546 (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi). The new model will comply with the stringent BS6 emission norms. It will be powered by a 102 cc single-cylinder engine equipped with electronic fuel injection technology. The engine is expected to deliver more mileage with improvement in performance. The engine will churn out 7.8 bhp of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 8.34 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. Transmission is handled by a 4-speed unit and the bike can clock a top speed of 90kmph as per Bajaj internal tests.
The bike has both Kick and Electric Start options with fuel tank capacity of 11 litres. There is a 130 mm Drum brake at the front while 110 mm Drum present at the rear. Dimension wise, bike length is 2003 mm, width 713 mm, height 1100 mm with a wheelbase of 1255 mm. The ground clearance stands at 200 mm.
Features-wise, the bike comes with LED daytime running lamp, alloy wheels with tube-type tyres, telescopic front forks with 135mm length, Rubber footpads, exhaust with chrome heat shield, SNS rear suspension with 110mm length among others. The Platina 100 is available in two colours - Red and Black. Bike weight for Bajaj Platina 100 and 100 ES alloy stands at 117.5 kgs and 116 kgs, respectively.
As per the information available on the Bajaj website, the Platina is based on the 'Platina ComforTec'. Its ComforTec technology can reduce jerks by 20 percent. The Platina 100 rivals in the Indian market are TVS Sport and Hero HF Deluxe.
