An alleged auto-industry cartel that includes Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Porsche has led to the deal halting.

Plans of future collaboration with Daimler have been put on hold by BMW after disclosure of an alleged conspiracy among German carmakers to cartel authorities.

Daimler reportedly blew the whistle on a supposed cartel between it, Volkswagen, BMW, Audi and Porsche. The cartel were involved in fixing prices and select technologies, including AdBlue diesel treatments.

Following the latest development, BMW’s top management pressed the pause button for future collaboration with Daimler. The cartel was apparently involved in fixing plans with regards to building charging stations for electric cars and joint purchasing of auto parts. BMW’s trust in the Daimler group has taken a hit after the allegation.

Neither BMW nor Daimler has commented, but the European Union and German antitrust regulators are currently investigating the alleged collusion.
