At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 in Las Vegas from January 7-10, 2020, BMW will present a new i3-based model. The car, dubbed the BMW i3 Urban Package, will offer an entirely customized mobility experience to the individual needs of the user.
To do this, a BMW i3 model underwent a complete transformation (with only the driver's seat and dashboard left untouched), giving a boutique hotel's relaxed feel to its interior. The objective was to create an inviting space with a high feel-good factor–the perfect place to relax, enjoy in-car entertainment, or focus on laid-back work.
This was done by including a wide, comfortable footrest pad, a screen that flips down from the headliner, and a personal sound zone, among other items.
The i3 Urban Pack is also a logical step forward in the dedication of the BMW Group to sustainable mobility. It is based on a holistic approach to responsible resource utilization, encompassing the powertrain with zero local emissions, careful selection of materials and the processes involved in production. Consequently, fabrics containing recycled materials are mixed with certified wood and olive-tanned leather, while floor mats are made of recyclable materials that can be fed back into the material process in accordance with the principles of circular economy.
A fleet of regular BMW i3 cars were converted into Munich's Urban Suites in preparation for the CES, and brought to Las Vegas, where they can also be seen navigating the streets of the city. The German carmaker says that anyone wishing to be chauffeur-driven to their desired destination can use a special app to order one of the BMW i3 Urban Suites.
The car will offer its passengers a first-hand experience of the innovative and sustainable mobility concept of the BMW Group, while clearly demonstrating that luxury travel has nothing to do with vehicle size in the future.
