BMW M340i is launching in India on March 10, 2021. After much delay, the performance model is arriving into the domestic market. This follows the recent launch of BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine last month. The German automaker is on an offensive in the Indian market with 12 new models launches scheduled for 2021. The BMW M340i will come via the CKD (Completely-Knocked-Down) route and will be locally assembled at the Chennai manufacturing facility. It will be the most powerful 3 Series model in the country. Expect the BMW M340i to carry a price tag of Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom), India. There are a number of BMW M Performance models like Z4 M40i roadster, the X7 M50d SUV already selling in the country.
Talking about the design, the performance model will feature a chrome infused grille, revamped rear diffuser, redesigned bumper and large exhaust tips. The sedan will ride on a new set of bigger 19-inch alloy wheels. As for the interior, the new M340i will offer all the bells and whistles seen on the standard 3 Series. Thus the Indian buyer can look forward to features like a 3-zone automatic climate control, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch control display, ambient lighting, iDrive system, front and rear parking sensors among many others.
It will be propelled by a powerful 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine. The unit would deliver a power output of 370 bhp and 500Nm of peak torque. As the engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Besides this, the performance model will come equipped with an xDrive All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) setup. The manufacturer will be adding new components to distinguish the performance model from the Standard 3 series. These could include M-specific suspension technology, M Sport brakes, an M Sport exhaust system and M Sport differential.
