Automotive Industry has been severely hit by the Coronavirus pandemic with delays in vehicle deliveries, launches and shutdown in production units across the world. India is slowly coming to grips with the debilitating virus with the shutdown of manufacturing plants and delayed launches of awaited models. BMW's plan of launching the 8 Series in India has hit a hurdle due to the epidemic spread leading to its postponement. BMW India's official website has a dedicated page for the 8 series model on which prospective buyers can feed in their essential data thereby confirming their interest in the vehicle.
The German Automaker's plans to launch the BMW i8 and 840i in India once the threat of Coronavirus disappears. Instagram handle Automobili Ardent posted spy shots of 840i GranCoupe and two M8s which were recently spotted in India. The luxury carmaker looks to have imported the models thereby indicating that they will be CBU's. Globally, BMW launched the new 8 Series last year however from the Indian point of view there will be quite a few iterations coming our way. Off these, first would be a more partical BMW 840i Gran Coupe (four-door version) followed by more sporty M8 which is basically a two door.
BMW 840i Gran Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter and BMW 330i sport TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 335 bhp of maximum power output and 550 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes matted to an 8-speed automatic transmission along with an all-wheel-drive system. While BMW M8 is fitted with a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo S63 petrol engine which comes compatible with an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD. The V8 power house generates 591bhp of power and 750Nm torque.
