BMW Motorrad India has launched the much-awaited R18 Classic in the country. The touring motorcycle is priced at Rs 24 lakhs (ex-showroom). The bike is around Rs 1.5 lakh more expensive than the BMW R18 First Edition. Furthermore, the bike will be available at all BMW Motorrad showrooms across the country.
The new R18 Classic is based on the R18 First Edition. However, it does get subtle changes as it is touring focused. Upfront, it features an LED headlamp, a pair of auxiliary lights, and a large windscreen. The bike provides a 16-inch front wheel instead of a 19-inch along with wider tyres. Besides these, the motorcycle also comes equipped with a reprofiled rider’s perch, a pillion seat, and saddlebags. The new R18 Classic gets slash-cut exhausts instead of the fishtail ones to accommodate the saddlebags. The distance between the handlebar and seat along with the mid-mounted foot peg position provides for an upright seating position. Other feature highlights include traction control, electronic cruise control, engine brake control, hill-start control, and keyless ride system.
Performance-wise, the motorcycle is powered by a new 1802cc air/oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine that churns out a maximum power of 89 bhp and a peak torque of 158 Nm. Furthermore, it gets the exposed shaft drive. The bike comes with three riding modes - Roll, Rock, and Rain. The two-wheeler also comes with an unlimited kilometers warranty of three years as standard along with an option to extend the warranty to the 4th and 5th year.
