BMW India has silently launched a new entry-level variant of the X7 SUV in form of xDrive30d DPE at a sticker price of Rs 92.50 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. It is nearly Rs 6.40 Lakhs cheaper than the outgoing variant. In addition, the company has made a few changes to the entire variant lineup, the most formidable being the commencing of local production of flagship xDrive40i M Sport variant as earlier it was retailed as CBU. Despite the local production, it has seen a decent hike in price. Presently, all the BMW X7 variants are now assembled locally at the German luxury automaker's Chennai facility.
As for features, BMW xDrive30d DPE comes loaded with several bells and whistles in the form of air suspension, LED headlights, 4-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats, powered rear window sunshades, digital instrument cluster, rear parking camera and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay. The safety features include seven airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill descent control, Isofix child seat anchor and a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard. The mid-level xDrive30d DPE Signature, which comes in a 6-seater layout, gets hands-free tailgate, “Laser” headlamps, ventilated and heated front seats, 5-zone climate control, rear seat touchscreens and a 360-degree parking camera as standard features, though the price also has shot up by Rs 3.60 Lakhs.
The new variant doesn't come with any mechanical updates at all as it carries the same 3.0L 6-cylinder turbocharged V6 petrol and diesel engines that belt out 265bhp and 340bhp, respectively. The engines are linked to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which transmits the power to all the four wheels of the SUV via an all wheel drive system as standard. The current-gen BMW X7 was launched in the Indian market last year and the company has plans to further expand the variant lineup by introducing a new M50d grade which will high on performance. It will be packed with a 3.0L six-cylinder in-line quad-turbocharged diesel engine which will develop top power of 400bhp and peak torque of 760Nm. Below is the variant-wise BMW X7 price in India:
