Book Your Kia Seltos Now

South Korea carmaker Kia has opened bookings for the Seltos compact SUV starting today. The new car will be on display at most Kia dealerships in the country and interested customers can examine the vehicle before making the bookings. However, you are in for a disappointment if test drives are your preferred way to buy a new car as that is not being offered as yet. For the unacquainted, Seltos uses a new platform taken from new Hyundai Verna. It has been reported that the same platform would be used for the new Hyundai Creta as well. Given that the compact SUV segment is very hotly contested in India, there are reports that Kia will price the new car very aggressively. Some say that the new SUV could be priced close to Creta rather than Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500. Besides, the company will add a lot of premium features to Seltos to make it quite attractive not just for Creta buyers but Tata Harrier buyers too. The SUV is scheduled to officially launch in India on 22 August 2019.

Kia Motors India Vice President and Head (Sales and Marketing) Mr. Manohar Bhat said,

The Kia Seltos has been built from ground-up, keeping Indian customers in mind and is equipped to redefine the segment. I am proud of the hard-work and dedication put in by all our team in the development of the Seltos, and that has paid off in the way the car has come about to be. We are confident that the customers will be equally delighted by the specifications-combination and our wide-spread network of 265 touchpoints in 160 cities that will instill confidence and recognition of the brand. We can’t wait for India to experience the stylish Seltos.

In view of the new emission norms to be imposed by the Indian Government from April 2020, Seltos will come with Bharat Stage 6 (BS6)-compliant petrol and diesel engines right from the start. The same engines will be added to the current Hyundai Creta in the coming months and will feature in the all-new Creta lined up for a 2020 launch. The petrol models of Kia Seltos will have 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated and 1.4-liter turbocharged engines. The naturally-aspirated engine will generate 113 Bhp power and 144 Nm torque will be mated to 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearboxes. The 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine will produce 138 Bhp power and 242 Nm torque and transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed twin clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel model will have a 1.5-liter, turbocharged engine that is tuned to produce 113 Bhp peak power and 250 Nm peak torque. The diesel engine will come with a 5-speed manual and a torque converter automatic gearbox.

Despite sharing platform with Creta, Seltos will be quite different and better than the Hyundai car in terms of sheer number of features, creature comforts, more gearbox and engine options, and premium finish. Coming to interiors, Seltos will get a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit mounted on dashboard through floating design. It will not only have smartphone connectivity and navigation but also a range of connected car features like the ones on the Hyundai Venue. The top-end trim of Seltos will come with a electric sunroof, air purifier, a 360 degree camera, automatic LED headlamps, ambient lighting, a Bose sound system, and cruise control.
