Fuel Economy for BS6 Datsun and Go+ revealed it will be lower than the BS4 vehicles.

Indian Government's push to reduce vehicular pollution is finally showing results with BS6 adoption. Indian automotive manufactures are introducing BS6 compliant vehicles to replace the older BS4 models. Automotive brands had 3 years to make the transition from BS4 to the new, stringent BS6 making it a tough ask for everyone. Datsun is one of the last manufacturers to make the switch to BS6 era. Datsun India recently listed their new BS6 compliant models  Datsun Go and Go + on their official website.

Both Datsun Go and Go + are powered by the same BS6 compliant 1.2-litre, HR12 DE, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. The BS6 compliant engine delivers 67 bhp of maximum power and 104 Nm of peak torque as they come to a 5-speed manual transmission. With the adoption of BS6 engines, fuel efficiency for these vehicles has come down marginally in comparison to the BS4 vehicle. According to ARAI, the certified mileage figures for the new Datsun models stands at 19.02 kmpl. The fuel efficiency for the new BS6 Datsun Go and Go + is 0.7 kmpl less than the outgoing BS4 models.

Datsun India is also offering a CVT transmission for Go and Go + which is first in the segment. A CVT draws maximum engine power from a small engine, offering quicker acceleration than standard automatic transmissions making Go and Go + an attractive option for the Indian consumers. The CVT variants are available with the same 1.2 petrol engine, the new BS6 engine will churn out 76bhp of power output and 104Nm of peak torque. ARAI certified mileage figures for the Go and Go+ CVT is 19.59 kmpl and 18.57 kmpl respectively. If we compare it to the outgoing BS4 models, the mileage figures for Go and Go + CVT is 0.48 and 0.84 kmpl respectively which is on the lower side.

Datsun CVT

The Japanese automaker has not yet released the prices for the new BS6 models but we can expect a marginal hike due to the addition of BS6 engines and new features.

Safety-wise, the new Datsun GO and Go+ come with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), First-In-Segment Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Dual-Airbags, Brake Assist (BA) and Traction Control System (TCS).
