Mercedes Benz plans to expand the AMG product line in the country with the launch of E63 S and E53 sedan

Mercedes Benz India is all set to introduce the AMG E53 4MATIC+ and the AMG E63 S 4MATIC+  on July 15, 2021, in the country. The press launch will be streamed live on all social media platforms of Mercedes Benz India. We can expect both the AMGs to fetch a price tag of around Rs 1.50 crore (ex-showroom). The two upcoming performance-focused sedans will come with several cosmetic and feature upgrades.

In terms of design, the E63 S comes with a redesigned front fascia. It features an AMG-specific radiator grille with twelve vertical louvers and an enlarged Mercedes star logo. In addition, it gets a larger central cooling air inlet and 20-inch five-twin-spoke alloy wheels. A set of 19-inch 10-spoke light-alloy wheels comes as an option. The rear end boasts of the aerodynamically optimized reshaped apron, a new diffuser, and flatter brake lights. The refreshed performance sedan features the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system and digital instrument display. Both will come with bespoke AMG display options. The model also comes with a new twin-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel with haptic feedback controls which includes a ‘hands on’ sensor. This will further trigger warnings and activate emergency brake assist if it happens to detect that the driver does not have their hands on the wheel for an extended period. The sedan further gets tweaked AMG Dynamic select software and drive programs.

Talking about the E53 4Matic, it too gets a restyled front end. Design bits include an AMG-specific grille with an A-shaped contour featuring five vertical struts and LED headlamps. The sedan will further come with 19-inch and 20-inch light-alloy wheel options with a five-twin-spoke design. Inside the cabin, it will feature a fully digital cockpit comprising two displays each with a 10.25-inch screen. The new E53 will be positioned below the top-notch E63 S in the Indian range.

Performance-wise, the E63 4M+ comes equipped with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out a maximum power of 603 bhp and a peak torque of 850 Nm. While the E53 4M+ is fitted with a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, in-line engine with exhaust gas turbocharger and electrical additional compressor. The motor generates 434 bhp power along with an additional 21 bhp power via the EQ boost. Both the models will come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and Mercedes’ 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. The E63 S will rival the likes of the BMW M5 in India. While the E53 sedan will not have any direct rival.
