The new Ford EcoSport compliant BS6 is set to hit showrooms this month. Prices for the new model will sometime be revealed towards the end of this month, according to some retailers. Apart from the upgraded engine line, the new EcoSport will not see any major changes.

The compact SUV will now get a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, going into the details. In addition, a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder petrol engine will also be available. Those are likely to continue the same when it comes to transmission options. That said, both engines will receive a standard five-speed manual while an automatic six-speed torque converter with the petrol version will come in as an option.

More definitely, the new Ford EcoSport BS6 will not come with a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine as it would make no sense for the company to update the said engine owing to low sales. The said engine produces 124hp and 170Nm of good power and torque, respectively. It comes with a manual six speed gearbox. The EcoBoost engine was only available with a single S trim that used to retail Rs 10.95 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The company will, however, replace the said engine with a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine from Mahindra, but at a later stage. The Mahindra XUV300 is the same motor powers.

The EcoSport will keep up against Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300 likes. Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will face more obstacles as these two will be released in the coming weeks in new avatars.

Interestingly, Ford's subcompact SUV will rub shoulders with the Kia compact SUV set to launch in India sometime later this year. If you've decided to buy the Ford EcoSport, you can now be the best time to save money by getting the BS4 model. m SUV prices currently start at Rs 7.91 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
