The India launch of BS6 Isuzu MU-X is expected to take place later this year

Isuzu Motors India had discontinued the MU-X last year as the SUV was not updated to comply with the BS6 Emission Norms. But recently, a test mule of Isuzu MU-X has been spotted doing test runs in Bengaluru. Spy shots of the same have surfaced online. The test mule seen here in the spied pictures is the old one that was already on sale before the advent of BS6 norms. It is being speculated that Isuzu might be using the bodyshell to test a new engine. The company has already listed the SUV on its official website along with a page that displays a ‘coming soon’ teaser. This further gives us a hint that the new Isuzu MU-X might be launched later this year in the Indian market.

Visually, the new Isuzu SUV gets an aggressive-looking front fascia. It features a two-slat chrome grille upfront. In addition, it provides sleeker LED headlamps with DRLs. The SUV rides on petal-shaped 20-inch alloy wheels. The rear end features a revised bumper and wrap-around taillights. Talking about the interior features, the SUV gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, a multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters, and an electric parking brake.

In the global market, the next-generation Isuzu MU-X draws its power from a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine that generates 148 bhp power @3600rpm and 350 Nm peak torque @1800-2600rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. Besides this, the SUV also comes equipped with a 3.0-litre diesel motor that belts out a maximum power of 187 bhp @3600rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm @1600-2600rpm. The unit is linked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It caters to an all-wheel drive system as well.
