Mahindra delivers the first batch of Supro ambulances to the Maharashtra Government

Mahindra & Mahindra, on tuesday 16th June, announced the launch of Supro Ambulance in the country. The first batch is exclusively manufactured for the Maharashtra government. Mahindra Supro Ambulance will be helpful for the beleaguered Maharashtra Government as it combats the rising cases of Coronavirus. Being based on the Mahindra Supro platform, it is priced at Rs 6.94 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai) and will come in two variants - LX and ZX. With the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra Government needs ambulances to cater to the infected patients. 

Keeping in mind the medical requirements, the Supro Ambulance comes fitted with equipment like foldable stretcher/trolley, space for an oxygen cylinder, fire extinguisher, fire-resistant interior and a public announcement system. Mahindra Supro Ambulance key highlights are AIS 125 certified retro-reflective decals and 75 percent frosted windows. It also comes with a beacon light with a siren to navigate through the heavy traffic. 

If we talk about performance, Supro Ambulance is powered by Mahindra’s DI engine.  The ambulance delivers 47 hp of maximum power and has 100 Nm of peak torque. The dimensions are engineered to quickly navigate through the congested Indian roads and can help in quick transport of the affected citizens to the nearest hospital. The BS6 Mahindra Supro Ambulance comes with a warranty of 2 years or  60,000 kilometres.

In a statement to the media outlets,  Veejay Nakra, CEO - Automotive Division at M&M said “ "Mahindra wants to enable people to rise by driving positive change in their lives. The launch of Supro Ambulance to support medical caretakers to move people safely and in time is a clear testimony of this philosophy,". Adding further, Mr Vijay elaborated on the ambulances provided to the government of Maharashtra, he said “ We are delighted to partner the Government of Maharashtra in their efforts to fight the pandemic. The first batch of 12 vehicles has been produced in record time and delivered to them already."
