With the onset of the new financial year, several automakers are gearing up to launch their products that will cater to a different set of buyers in various segments. The French automaker, Citroen is all set to mark its entry into the Indian market. On the other hand, Skoda and Mahindra will be giving an update to their respective products. Hyundai, on the other hand, is planning to launch a 7-seater iteration of Creta. Lastly, Jeep will be launching a brand new 7-seater SUV. Read the story to know more about the cars in detail.
Citroen C5 AirCross
Citroen India will be launching the C5 Aircross in the country on April 7. The SUV is expected to fall in the price range of Rs 30 lakhs - Rs 33 lakhs (ex-showroom). As of now, the bookings for the SUV have commenced at a token amount of Rs 50,000 while the deliveries are expected to begin from the second week of April onwards. Design-wise, the SUV gets features like split LED headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps, large air intakes, a roof-mounted spoiler, and wraparound LED tail-lamps. Inside the cabin of the C5 Aircross, there will be a host of features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof among many others. The C5 Aircross will draw its power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 177 bhp power and 400 Nm peak torque. The unit can be availed with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
2021 Skoda Octavia
The new-gen Skoda Octavia is all set to make its India debut by the end of April. We can expect the sedan to be priced at around Rs 19 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will come equipped with features like a larger touchscreen infotainment system integrated with connected car technology, a power-adjustable driver’s seat and dual-zone climate control, among many others. Performance-wise, it is likely to get a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The same powertrain is offered with Superb wherein it generates 190 bhp power and 320 Nm peak torque. Besides this, we can also expect the upcoming Octavia to get 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine linked to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Mahindra XUV500
Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to unveil the second-generation XUV500 in the country. The upcoming SUV has been spotted doing test runs on numerous occasions in the past. As for the price, the new XUV500 might fall in the range of Rs 13 lakhs - Rs 20 lakhs (ex-showroom). The spy shots revealed earlier gave us a fair idea of what the SUV will look like. Cosmetically, it gets projector headlamps and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Besides a spacious cabin, the SUV will get features like a touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple Car Play & Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, and central AC vents. Talking about the powertrain, the XUV500 is likely to get a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol motor and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel mill. The transmission option will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit.
Hyundai Alcazar
Hyundai Motor Company will unveil the Alcazar on April 6, 2021, in Rajasthan. The SUV has further been listed on the official website. We can expect the bookings to commence from mid-April onwards. As for the price, the 7-seater SUV could fall in the range of Rs 11.5 lakhs- Rs 18 lakhs (ex-showroom). The three-row SUV is based on the same platform that underpins the Hyundai Creta. Design-wise, it is quite similar to the Creta. However, it will get subtle changes like the revised front grille, dual exhausts, updated bumper design, and front parking sensors. Talking about the cabin of the SUV, it will get seats in the dual-tone color scheme. Besides features like a 10.25-inch infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, Hyundai BlueLink technology and digital instrument cluster, the SUV will also get ADAS (Advanced driver-assistance systems). Performance-wise, the Alcazar is likely to get the same powertrain options as the Hyundai Creta.
New Jeep 7-Seater SUV
Jeep India will be introducing a 7-seater SUV in the country by late 2021 or early 2022. The automaker will be revealing the name of the SUV on April 4, 2021. However, according to Italian media, we have learned that the all-new SUV might be called “Patriot”. The upcoming Jeep 7-seater SUV will share its monocoque platform with the Compass. Dimensionally, it will be longer, wider, and taller than the Compass. In fact, the automaker intends to give a completely new identity to this SUV. Design-bits like the 7-slat front grille is likely to be retained so as to relate to the Jeep heritage. Under the bonnet, the new SUV might get Compass’s 2.0-litre diesel engine but in a higher state of tune. A 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system might also be on offer.
