With the advent of new safety and emission policies in the country, automakers have had to make major changes in their existing models in the market. With the BS-VI emission norms set to kick in from next year, and body safety norms later this year. One can expect even major changes on a lot of model in the market. Therefore, let’s take a look at some such upcoming models that will undergo major changes for their next update.
Hyundai Grand i10
Highlights – Major changes on interior and exterior front. Larger touchscreen infotainment system on the inside and a rumoured sunroof. No changes in the engine, speculations suggest new torque converter automatic gearbox instead of existing AMT transmission. Several design cues from the recently launched Santro to also make appearance on new model of i10.
Hyundai Xcent
Highlights – All-new version to replace the current model. Major changes on design and exteriors, new features on the inside including floating infotainment system and fast charge USB socket. No engine changes likely. A straight up new design to make appearance on new version of Xcent.
Hyundai Creta
Highlights – All-new model to replace the existing version of the car. Second Hyundai car to be hybrid and all-electric upgrade ready for future. Changes on design front, possible addition of new features on car. Model to share engine options with recently unveiled Kia Seltos.
Hyundai Elite i20
Highlights – Expect new engine options on next gen model of car. Design tweaks and other changes to possibly make an appearance to give the car more sharp and aggressive on Indian roads. Camouflaged models already spied testing in India.
Maruti Suzuki Alto
Highlights – New version of one of the highest selling cars of India’s largest carmaker to come with lot of safety and emission upgrades. There are speculations that the company can also give the car an entirely new identity by taking the crossover look route with the upcoming generation of one of the highest selling hatchbacks of India.
Mahindra Thar
Highlights – Full model change for the popular lifestyle SUV. New Thar to be built on all-new platform leading to an increase in size. Engine to also be replaced with a new 2L engine being developed by brand. New model of Thar to comply with both BNVSAP and BS-VI norms.
Mahindra Scorpio
Highlights – Full model change for this SUV as well. Completely revamped exteriors and interiors to be seen on new version of Scorpio. SUV likely to share engine and platform with the new model of Thar with the new engine likely to deliver around 140 Bhp. New model of Scorpio to also follow BNVSAP and BS-VI regulations.
Mahindra XUV500
Highlights – Full model replacement for XUV500 also on cards. New model to be built on improved platform and share engine with Thar and Scorpio. Company to introduce new model to take on upcoming rivalry with new vehicles in better manner.
Honda City
Highlights – Japanese automaker to introduce major design changes inspired from expensive models of their line-up on upcoming version of Honda City. Expect to see the introduction of a hybrid version of City in Indian market.
Honda Jazz
Highlights – Upcoming next gen model of premium hatchback has already been spied multiple times. New model of the car to be the first of the company to sport dual-motor Hybrid engine. Expect to see changes on design and dimension front on the car.
