Stellantis-owned Citroen is all set to globally unveil the C3 (codenamed CC21) on September 16, 2021. The production of the SUV is slated to begin in December this year followed by the India launch in early next year. The French automaker plans to manufacture the C3 in India and South America for the world. Since C3 (CC21) is the first mass-market product from the brand in India, it will undergo heavy localization. This will further help the brand to price the SUV aggressively. However, we can expect it to be retailed at around Rs 8 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.
Citroen C3 (CC21) has been spotted doing test runs on multiple occasions in the past. Besides this, images of the promotional scale model were also leaked online. As per the images, the SUV features Citroen’s signature broader grille and the brand’s logo finished in chrome upfront. In addition, it gets headlamps that resemble the all-new C5. The black cladding all around the C3 gives it a sporty appeal. Towards the rear end, the SUV boasts of rectangular-shaped tail lamps and an upright tailgate. Other design bits include orange roof & front bumper, dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheel, dual-tone rear bumper, and pillars & roof rail finished in black. C
As of now, we have no information about the interior features. However, we can expect a traditional Citroen cockpit with the C3. The SUV might borrow the seats, upholstery, and features from the C5 Aircross. The feature list will include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit compatible with Android Auto & Apple Carplay, climate control, semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control, connected technology, steering mounted controls and a panoramic sunroof among others.
Performance-wise, the Citroen C3 is likely to come equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that is capable of returning a top power of 108 bhp at 5500 rpm and a peak torque of 205 Nm at 1500 rpm. The motor will further be mated to either a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
Once launched in India, the new Citroen C3 (CC21) will rival the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and Mahindra XUV300.
