Citroen C3 is going to be the French brand's first made-in-India product
Citroen has been working on a small SUV for the Indian market, which has been spotted multiple times as a test mule. Recently, the images of the promotional scale model of the upcoming SUV were leaked online. Being christened as Citroen C3, it is expected to have its global premiere in the next couple of weeks. Citroen C3 is going to be the French brand's first made-in-India product and one can expect it to launch during the festive season this year. Presently codenamed as C21 in the Indian market, it could be named as C3 Sporty upon its launch.
Speaking about the exterior styling, the C3 flaunts Citroen's signature broader grille upfront which is flanked by dual-layer headlamps. The headlamp design resembles the all-new C5 which was unveiled recently. There is a flat bonnet while the windshield comes in an angular position. The company has offered black cladding all around the SUV to give it a sporty appeal. One can notice orange color on the roof and front bumper while the pillar and roof rails are finished in black color. Upon a closer look, the dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels can also be seen. The rear profile boasts of an upright tail-gate with rectangle-shaped tail-lamps. dual-tone bumper and black cladding.
The images of the interior cabin have not been revealed as of now but we expect a traditional Citroen cockpit with the C3. The seats, upholstery and features could be borrowed from the C5 AirCross. Under the bonnet, Citroen C3 is expected to have a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine which will be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. It is also learnt that the French automaker might also offer a DCT automatic unit with the C3 but nothing is confirmed yet. There will be no diesel engine available with the SUV. Citroen is aiming for extremely aggressive pricing for the C3 as it measures less than 4 metres in length while the engine capacity is also less than 1500cc. Moreover, it will be locally developed at its facility in Tamil Nadu. So, expect Citroen C3 to be priced around Rs 6-7 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
