This will be Citroen's third car in the Indian market.

It was a while ago that the French company Citroen had announced its intent to launch vehicles in the Indian market. The company has already stated that their first car in the country will be the Citroen C5 AirCross. This new crossover from the French maker will take on the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, and upcoming SUV like the MG Hector. Now such is the popularity of the SUVs in India that after the C5 Aircross, the brand has decided to bring two more SUVs to the Indian market.

There are reports on the internet suggesting that this new car could be a sub compact SUV from the brand that will take on the likes of Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon in the highly competitive sub-4 meter compact SUV segment. With the new model the brand will try to achieve large volume sales in the country so as to sustain itself in the market for the longer run. The upcoming model from the brand will be based on the C3 Aircross SUV. In fact, it will be a shorter version of the C3 Aircross.

Moving on to the next SUV that the brand will launch in the Indian market, the third SUV will be a compact SUV smaller than the C5 Aircross. There are reports stating that the third SUV from the French maker will be a compact SUV based on C4 Cactus and will lock horns with the likes of Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta, and Renault Duster in India. This new SUV will be slotted in the vacant spot between the C5 Aircross and the upcoming sub-4 meter compact SUV from the brand.

This midsize SUV will be localized to a great extent so as to be an affordable offering in the segment. The upcoming SUV from the brand is expected to be in line with the latest design trend of the company and will offer futuristic design and sharp detailing on the exterior. However, the brand has not revealed details about the same so far.

The upcoming midsize SUV from the brand is likely to be offered with the same engine configuration as the sub-4 meter compact SUV from the maker albeit in a higher state of tune. The petrol engine options could be a 1.2L turbo unit. The diesel engine could be 1.5L unit. The transmission will be handled by a 6 speed manual with an automatic likely to be launched at a later stage.
