Made-in- India Etios Scores Four Stars in Global NCAP Test

The hatchback scored four stars in adult occupant safety and three stars in child occupant safety.

The Global New Car Assessment Program (GNCAP) and AA South Africa have conducted crash tests under the ‘Safer Cars for Africa’ initiative. The tests featured two made-in- India cars, the Toyota Etios and Datsun GO+.

The Indian manufactured Etios Liva scored a four-star rating in the crash test. It got a four-star rating in the frontal crash and was rated as stable in the test and offered good overall protection for adult passengers. It scored three stars in child safety, where Toyota-recommended child seats were used.

The Datsun GO+ failed the crash test, it only managed a one-star rating. The Go+ was rated unstable in frontal crash and in child occupant safety, the car scored a slightly better two stars. Other cars that participated were the Volkswagen Polo Vivo, Renault Sandero and Chery QQ3. The Polo and Sandero scored three stars while the Chery QQ3 received a ‘zero’ star rating.
