The auto sector in India seems to be limping back on track post Coronavirus Lockdown. This is evident from the fact that Skoda launched three products last month and Mercedes Benz India also did the same by introducing two different models. In June itself, the auto sector will witness launches of many cars and SUVs. However, one of the most anticipated introductions would be MG Hector Plus. Showcased for the first time during Auto Expo 2020, the Hector Plus is basically an extended version of the standard Hector SUV catering to an additional 3rd row of seats. Reliable sources have confirmed to us that MG Motor India will launch the Hector Plus not this month but in the first half of July 2020.
Expected to be launched with a starting price of around Rs 12.73 lakhs (ex-showroom), the 7-Seater SUV will be Rs 1 lakh more expensive over the regular Hector. In comparison to its sibling, MG Hector Plus has a slightly different exterior design. The design upgrades include a shiny new black front grille that is surrounded via LED headlamps. Other highlights include a pair of new LED DRLs followed by reworked front and rear bumpers. The presence of new LED tail lights further help the cause of this SUV.
As for the interior, MG Hector Plus would be offered in 6 and 7 seat configuration. This means that there is an additional 3rd row of seats with a decent amount of head, shoulder and legroom. Few other cabin offerings could be thrown into the package which we can only tell you once the vehicle gets launched next month.
Talking about the powertrains, this SUV will be fitted with a 2.0 litre diesel sourced from Fiat alongside a 1.5 litre turbo petrol unit having mild hybrid technology. As standard there will be a six-speed manual gearbox while a dual-clutch transmission is also said to be on the cards with the petrol models as an option. The bookings for the Hector Plus are expected to start in the last week of June at all the company authorized dealerships.
