2019 Figo gets updates and yet a massive price cut

New Ford Figo hatchback launched in India with massive price cut and wide ranging features.

The 2019 Ford Figo was launched in India on 15th March and offers better value for your money given the massive cut. Prices now start at Rs 5.15 lakh for the petrol line up and Rs 5.95 lakh for the diesel range. There are tweaks to the design, more features on the inside and a new 1.2-litre petrol engine under the hood. Lets have a deeper look into the car.

The updated Figo gets revised bumpers on both the ends and these look sportier than the older model. The pictures you see here are of the top spec BLU model that gets blue coloured inserts at places ; for example around the front logo, fog lamp inserts and at the rear as well. The grille design is new and so are the 15-inch alloy wheels. The BLU model gets black treatment for various body parts like the external mirrors, alloy wheels and even the roof treatment. This gels in well with the overall sporty theme.

On the inside, the new Figo gets added features like push button start, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and touch-screen interface. While this has inbuilt navigation and doubles up as a display for the rear camera, it misses out on Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The BLU edition also gets blue stitching for the seats and prominent BLU branding on the seat covers. Space and ergonomics remain as good as ever ; no changes on this front. However we feel Ford could have added more features in the form of smart entry, rear vents, front arm-rest and so on.

One of the highlights of the new Figo is the 1.2-litre DRAGON series petrol engine that was first used in the Freestyle and then in the Aspire sedan. The Figo is the lightest of the lot and given the extra power and torque on offer from this new motor, performance is more than satisfactory. The 1.5-litre diesel continues to be offered as well and so is the 1.5-litre petrol with a 6 speed automatic.

Ford has revised the version line-up with the new Figo. It will be offered in three trims of Ambiente (base), Titanium (loaded) and BLU (sporty) with both the manual petrol and manual diesel options. The automatic will only being offered in the Titanium trim. Prices have been slashed by as much as Rs 70,000 depending on the version and Ford is throwing in complementary warranty of 5 years or 100,000km on all the models. The new Figo will lock horns with the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Swift in India.
