Ford Puma managed to score full 5- star ratings in the last round of crash and safety tests conducted by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
It is worthy to note that the Euro NCAP tested around 55 models for the European market this year out of which 45 vehicles earned a full 5-star score. The euro spec Puma is fitted with dual front, side and curtain airbags a total of six airbags as standard. The car gets safety features like seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, seatbelt reminders and Isofix child seat mounts that you can get even in the base variant.
Some of the other safety features that fetched full 5-star ratings are autonomous emergency braking (AEB) for pedestrians and cyclists in city and inter-urban setups, speed assistance and lane-keeping assist. The company has placed Ford Puma above the Ford EcoSport in the brand’s global line-up. The car gets a 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine with two power variants which are 123bhp power and 152bhp variant. Also, there is a diesel variant that has a 1.5-liter diesel engine.
The petrol powertrains even come with a 48V mild-hybrid setup whose transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox. However, there is no official announcement from the company whether the car will make it to the Indian car market or not. The company had forged an alliance with the Mahindra that would bring out multiple SUV’s.
One of the Ford SUV’s could rival the likes of Hyudai Creta. Also, the upcoming Ford SUV will form the basis of Mahindra XUV400.
