After the Delhi-Mumbai and Mumbai-Nagpur expressways, the Ganga Expressway will be the third longest expressway in India, spanning 594 km from western Uttar Pradesh and eastern regions of the state.

The completion of the Ganga Expressway is anticipated to occur by the end of this year, making it the third longest expressway in India. In order for it to be operational by December, the state government of Uttar Pradesh has requested that the developer expedite the construction process. The expressway will link Prayagraj in the western portion of the state and Meerut in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. Its first phase will be 594 km long. The state's chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, had declared during the Kumbh Mela in 2019 that the Ganga Expressway would be built. Now that the Maha Kumbh festival is set to begin on January 14 of next year, he wants the expressway to be completed and functioning before then.

By December 31, the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) must finish its work in order for the Ganga Expressway to be operational. The six-lane expressway will be the longest in the state once it is finished and operational. Additionally, it will significantly reduce the amount of time required for traveling between the two cities. The expressway's design speed is 120 kmph, while its travel speed is 100 kmph. It is anticipated that the journey time between Prayagraj and Meerut will decrease to approximately five hours.

The Ganga Expressway will rank as the third-longest expressway in India in terms of length. The longest expressway in the future is the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is more than 1,350 km long. With a length of just over 700 km, the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway is the second longest. At the moment, four of India's top ten expressways are located in Uttar Pradesh. A fifth will be added by Ganga Expressway to its list.

There will be 518 villages in 12 districts where the expressway will cross. Beginning at Bijauli village on the Meerut-Bulandshahr highway, it will conclude close to Judapur Dadu village on NH 19 in Prayagraj. Large aircraft landings will also be handled by the motorway. The airstrip in Shahjahanpur will be 3.50 km long. Two sizable bridges spanning the Ramganga and Ganga rivers will also be part of it.

The Ganga Expressway is special because it will connect to the Purvanchal, Balia Link, and Lucknow-Agra expressways, as well as other expressways in the state. When finished, Uttar Pradesh's 1.900 km of expressways will accelerate the growth of the industrial and agricultural sectors and attract investments in a range of industries.
