Perhaps the most overlooked and the most dependable part of your car are the tyres which it runs on. The tyres of the car play a pivotal but understated role in the life of your vehicle as they are the sole point of contact to the road during the entire time the car is in motion. Therefore, one of the oldest brands in the tyre industry recently launched two new tyre variants. The two latest models in the company's already long list of tyre offerings are a tyre each in the Assurance and Wrangler series of the brand. The first one is the Assurance DuraPlus 2 tyre which is primarily aimed at small and medium size cars with wheel size between 13 and 15 inches. The second one is the Wrangler AT SilentTrac this tyre is more better suited for larger vehicles like the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and the Isuzu V-Cross.
Talking on the occasion of the launch of the new tyres, the vice president of consumer business at Goodyear India, PK Walia stated,
“We are excited to release our latest innovations in the Indian market in order to carter to the evolving consumer needs. Both Assurance Duraplus 2 and Wrangler AT SilentTrac outperform their predecessors and we are confident that these new products will empower our consumers to go further. They offer superior benefits to our consumers and provide safe and better a quality driving experience.”
Talking about the Assurance DuraPlus2 first, the company says that the usage of TredLife technology in the manufacture of this tyre makes the tyres last as long as 1,10,000 kms on the road. Although, one can argue that the company quoted figure is always on the higher side as these figures are determined under lab test conditions, but even if one takes into account the real world performance scenario, these tyres might still outperform several other offerings in the market. This should ensure a lot of savings for the customers are tyre change often pinches one's pocket, even after it is changed post longer intervals. The brand also states that their new tyre comes with enhanced sidewall durability and reduced noise on the move, thus ensuring longevity and lesser noise on the long drives. Sizes available on the Goodyear Assurance DuraPlus2 start from 145/70 R13 and extend all the way to 205/65 R15. Thus making it ideal for usage in Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Santro, Hyundai Grand i10, and Datsun Go among other models in the market.
The second tyre launched by the US company is the Wrangler AT SilentTrac model. This aims at making the all-terrain performance of the cars it is used with better. The company says that their latest model makes the drive smoother by handling on-off road tasks better and reducing the road noise. This tyre has been launched mainly for the fast growing SUV market of India. The company says that the tyre is best suitable for 70% on-road and 30% off-road scenarios. All of this is the result of the use of tread compound which is made with silica blend and this resists cutting and chipping during off-road drives. This does not come at the cost of wet traction performance, as per Goodyear. These new tyres also offer reduced noise while bumping up the fuel economy by a small margin. This is possible due to an optimised treat area for an even pressure distribution across the footprint.
