Recent custom duty hikes have resulted in price rises in the range of Rs 8,000-70,000.

Thanks to an increase in custom duties (in February 2018), from 10 percent to 15 percent, on completely knocked down (CKD) kits, prices for locally assembled motorcycles have risen. While, Harley-Davidson India hadn’t immediately increased its prices, it said it would by the end of March. As of April 1st, prices have gone up by Rs 8,000-70,000, depending on the model.

The company did announce a small decrease in prices of the Hayabusa, which is imported as a CKD, thanks to the different duty rates charged by the government for types of CKD kits. The Street 750, costs Rs 8,000 more, and the Street Rod’s price has increased by Rs 37,000. Both these motorcycles are manufactured in India, but few components are imported.
