Honda Accord Hybrid discontinued in India due to weak demand and drop in the sales numbers.

The Japenese Automaker, Honda Cars India has discontinued its flagship model, the Accord Hybrid across the country. The model has been removed from the official website due to its weak demand and drop in the sale numbers. The Honda Accord Hybrid is not likely to make a comeback in the BS6 avatar.

The Honda Accord Hybrid was brought to India as a CBU unit. It was launched at an introductory price of Rs 37 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Accord was powered by a 2.0-litre, four cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired to dual electric motors, that churned out 215 bhp power and 315 Nm torque. Competing against the likes of Toyota Camry Hybrid, not a single unit of Accord Hybrid was sold in India in 2018 and 2019. Thus, the company will not be upgrading the model to meet the BS6 norms.

The company sold 272 units in the first eight months of FY2017. In total, Honda managed to sell 11,492 units of the 8th generation Accord since its launch in mid-2008. The major reasons behind its dropping sales in the Indian market has been the absence of a diesel avatar and the rising fuel prices.
