Honda has pulled the plug off the Brio hatchback in India

Honda has stopped the production of the Brio hatchback in India. Now the entry-level car for the Japanese automaker is the Amaze. Honda currently has no plans to launch the next generation of Brio in the Indian market. They launched the Brio in 2011 and have sold around 97,000 units of the same yet.

With the increasing competition and changing customer preference, Brio lost its steam of late. However, its platform has been very popular with other Honda cars such as Amaze, Mobilio and BR-V. For now, the Jazz and WR-V will be catering the hatchback segment for Honda in India.

The Honda Brio came with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and later was updated with an automatic transmission option. It has got very minor updates in its lifetime of 8 years in the market. There have been very mild cosmetic changes to the hatchback and because of lack of diesel engine, the demand for the car weakened over time.
