Honda Cars is making waves with new offerings in the last fortnight. First, they unveiled the New-Gen Honda Civic prototype and City hatchback two days back. Now, the Japanese automaker has launched City eHEV Sport Hybrid in Thailand. The hybrid sedan is priced at 839,000 baht in Thailand which roughly translates to Rs 20.5 lakhs in Indian currency. It was first unveiled for Malayasia but it has been launched in the Thailand market. The Honda City eHEV Sport Hybrid comes in an all-new paint scheme of Obsidian Blue Pearl. In the near future, expect Honda City eHEV Sport Hybrid to arrive in Malaysian market before coming to India in 2021.
Moving on to the exterior design, the eHEV hybrid takes inspiration from the RS model. The hybrid sedan boasts of a honeycomb-shaped grille, LED headlights, fog lights, revamped front bumper and a rear diffuser. The manufacturer has added eHEV badge on the boot lid lending it a distinctive appearance. Plus, it rides on 16-inch alloy wheels finished in the dual-tone scheme.
Talking about the interior, the buyer can look forward to faux leather and suede upholstery with red stitching alongside alloy pedals. The hybrid sedan will boast of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7-inch instrument cluster, reverse camera, automatic climate control, wireless charging among many others. The safety features on-board the hybrid sedan include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, stability control and so on.
Honda City eHEV Sport Hybrid comes with a smaller version of Honda’s (i-MMD) hybrid system. The sedan is powered by a combination of electric motor and petrol engine. The electric motor delivers 106 bhp of maximum power output and 253 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle DOHC i-VTEC engine belts out 96.65 bhp of maximum power output from 5,600 rpm to 6,400 rpm and 127 Nm of peak torque between 4,500 rmp - 5,000 rpm. Transmission duties are taken care by a direct drive system, it replaces the need for traditional gearbox unit. The manufacturer claims a fuel efficiency of 27.8 km per litre as per the NEDC cycle.
