Honda Elevate SUV's Fuel Efficiency Figures Unveiled Ahead of Launch

Honda has recently disclosed the fuel efficiency details of the highly anticipated Elevate SUV, set to launch in India in September 2023. The vehicle's test drives will commence in mid-August as it reaches dealerships. Positioned in the competitive midsize SUV segment, the Elevate is considered one of Honda's crucial offerings for the Indian market.

Fuel Economy and Powertrain Specifications for Honda Elevate

Honda has homologated the Elevate in India and is offering two powertrain choices, both shared with the City sedan. The base powertrain option is a 121hp, 145Nm, 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. An additional option is the 7-step CVT automatic transmission. While there won't be a petrol-hybrid powertrain for the Elevate, Honda plans to introduce a BEV based on the same platform.

Honda has officially revealed the fuel efficiency figures for the upcoming Elevate SUV, scheduled to launch in September 2023. The company plans to begin test drives in mid-August before making the vehicle available at dealerships. For India, the Elevate SUV holds significant importance and is aimed to be a strong contender in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment.

Fuel Economy and Powertrain Specifications: 

Honda has successfully homologated the Elevate SUV for the Indian market. The SUV will be equipped with two powertrain options, both of which are shared with the City sedan. The entry-level powertrain is a 121hp, 145Nm, 1.5-liter petrol engine, coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, this engine will offer a 7-step CVT automatic variant. However, Honda has decided not to provide a petrol-hybrid powertrain option for the Elevate. Nevertheless, the company has plans to launch a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) based on the Elevate platform.

The manual variant of the Honda Elevate achieves a fuel efficiency of 15.31kpl, while the CVT automatic variant delivers a slightly better 16.92kpl. Considering the 40-litre fuel tank capacity, the manual version can cover up to 612km on a full tank, and the automatic version can cover up to 679km. It's important to note that real-world driving conditions may result in slightly different ranges than the official figures.

Honda Elevate Dimensions and Variant Details

The Elevate SUV boasts dimensions similar to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, measuring 4,312mm in length, 1,790mm in width, and 1,650mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,650mm. Additionally, it offers a segment-leading ground clearance of 220mm.

There will be four trim levels for the Honda Elevate: SV, V, VX, and ZX. The entry-level SV trim comes with LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control, 16-inch steel wheels, and dual front airbags. On the other hand, the top-spec Elevate ZX offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen, six airbags, Honda Sensing ADAS suite, eight speakers, leatherette brown upholstery, soft-touch dashboard, and auto-dimming interior day/night mirror. The ZX trim exclusively features a unique Phoenix Orange exterior paint shade along with a few dual-tone exterior paint options.

Honda Elevate Expected Pricing and Rivals:

According to dealer sources, the Elevate SUV is expected to be priced approximately Rs 1 lakh-1.5 lakh higher than its equivalent City variant. It is anticipated to have a starting price of around Rs 11 lakh, while the top-end model could be priced around 19 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyundai Creta and the recently unveiled Kia Seltos facelift, both of which offer additional equipment and a diesel engine option, will be formidable competitors for the Honda Elevate in this price category.Other contenders include the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder, which offer petrol-hybrid powertrain options, as well as the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun SUVs.
