How does Hyundai Venue stack up against XUV300 and Vitara Brezza?

After a long period of time, and almost a month after the unveil, Hyundai has marked its entry in the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment with the launch of their Venue. The price of the base petrol variant of Venue starts from Rs. 6.53 lakhs, ex-showroom all-India and undercuts major players in the segment. Hyundai Venue locks horns with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and the Ford Ecosport in its segment. These are already well established models in the market, but Hyundai has loaded the Venue with enough features. Hence the latest entrant in the segment will make sure that these existing players face the heat as far as sales go. Therefore, we have decided to pit the Hyundai Venue against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Mahindra XUV300 to see how the new SUV in the segment stacks up against the top two sellers of the segment as of now.

Exterior Design and Dimensions

Starting with Venue, the waterfall grille at the front with chrome work on the grille lends a distinct identity to the South Korean maker’s SUV. The headlamps are placed below the turn indicators here, a design trend that is growing increasingly common in the industry. Sides reveal a different story as the design here looks Creta inspired but the lines on the body give the Venue a distinct identity for sure. Talking of the dimensions of the SUV, the Venue measures in at 3,995 mm long, 1,770 mm wide and 1,590 mm high. The wheelbase, on the other hand, is 2,500 mm.

Coming to Maruti Vitara Brezza, the design of the car looks dated and the SUV is long due for a facelift. The overall boxy appearance of Vitara Brezza sure does makes it look long in the tooth, and hopefully the brand will update the SUV soon. The dimensions of Vitara Brezza stand at 3995x1790x1640 mm respectively and the wheelbase of the SUV is 2500 mm whereas the ground clearance is 198 mm.

The Mahindra XUV300 was launched only a couple of months ago and hence looks very fresh in the segment. Not to mention that the front grille of the SUV also lends it a very premium character. Talking dimensions, XUV300 stands 3995x1821x1627 mm long, wide, and tall respectively. The wheelbase here though is the best in the segment and stands at 2600 mm.

Engines

As far as the mechanicals of the upcoming Venue are concerned, the South Korean maker is offering a new 1 liter 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine rated to deliver 120 PS and 175 Nm, this engine has been developed by the company in-house. This new engine comes with a 7-speed twin clutch gearbox and a 6 speed manual.
