Honda is bringing in big volumes currently thanks to the popularity of the new Amaze

The Indian car market sees the same vehicles being sold month after month, call it herd mentality or strong brand pull but new players are finding it increasingly difficult to make a dent in one of the world's emerging car markets.

Maruti Suzuki has long dominated and that isn't going to change anytime in the foreseeable future. Hyundai has always maintained numero deux spot, right behind Maruti Suzuki yet far away in sales.

Meanwhile, the third spot has now been taken by Mahindra. Meanwhile, Honda has managed to snag the fourth spot from Tata Motors. The Safari maker has been performing well on sales lately, thanks to newer model launches like the Tiago, Tigor and the Nexon.

However, Honda has had great success with the new Amaze while the City continues to bring in the numbers for the Japanese brand. Further boosting Honda sales is the WR-V, a crossover hatchback that has managed to be the segment best-seller, beating both the Hyundai i20 Active as well as the Ford Freestyle.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki sold a whopping 1,42,150 units, while Hyundai managed to sell 45,803 cars. Mahindra and Honda managed to sell 22,399 units and 18,261 units respectively while Tata Motors was the only car maker in the top 5 to see a decline of 13% (over the same period last year), selling 17,826 units.
