Maruti’s Ciaz and Ertiga SHVS see a price hike thanks to a 12.7 percent tax hike under GST.

A lot of vehicle categories see a reduction in price, but how much of the benefit will make its way to the consumer isn’t certain.

Most cars from major manufacturers have seen price reductions, spare for hybrid cars which are subject to a 12.7 percent hike in effective tax. The government decided to levy this tax on hybrids as part of its drive to promote electric vehicles, it believed hybrids were getting an unfair advantage.

Maruti Suzuki
The carmaker is offering a 3 percent price-cut on most models, except the SHVS-equipped Ciaz and Ertiga Diesels, which are now more expensive by Rs 1.88 and Rs 1.69 lakh, respectively.
