Hyundai Creta diesel E is not available anymore at the company's 'Click to Buy' digital sales channel
Hyundai India has silently removed the base E diesel variant of Creta SUV from its official website in the country. The new-gen Creta was launched in March last year with both petrol and diesel engines in five trims namely E, EX, S, SX and SX (O). Hyundai Creta diesel E is not available anymore at the company's 'Click to Buy' digital sales channel. Though, the entry-level E variant in petrol range of the SUV is still on sale at the website and can be booked at a token amount of Rs 25000 while it is priced at Rs 9.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
Hyundai Creta diesel E commanded a waiting period of nearly 11-12 months. The huge waiting period could be one of the primary reasons that compelled the company to temporarily remove it from the website. This short term disappearance of the E variant could help Hyundai to concentrate on the other variants of the SUV. However, some selected dealers are still accepting bookings for the base E variant, albeit only on the condition of getting the full on-road price upfront from the customer. The SUV has received overwhelming response from the buyers since its launch and diesel variants have constituted for the majority of its overall bookings and sales as compared to their petrol counterparts.
Hyundai is not the only automaker in India which is facing issues of high demand for its SUV range as several other players such as Mahindra, Nissan and Kia are witnessing the same for Thar, Magnite and Sonet, respectively. Mahindra Thar went on sale from November last year and it currently has a waiting period of 9-10 months despite ramping up the production. Kia Sonet has also received a grand reception from the Indian buyers as it has a minimum waiting period of 4-5 months for certain variants in select cities. The latest entrant in the sub 4-meter SUV segment Nissan Magnite comes with an estimated waiting period of 7-8 months while it was launched just a couple of months back in the Indian market.
