Hyundai Creta or Venue; which has more road presence?

Hyundai launched their sub 4 meter compact SUV, Venue in the Indian market last month and the bookings for the vehicle prove that it has been an instant hit among the customers in the country. The new offering from the brand locks horns with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, and Honda WR-V. Therefore, comparisons between these vehicles are bound to take place. However, apart from the Venue, Hyundai has another compact SUV in the market, the Creta. Given the two SUVs belong to different segment and are priced differently, but the Venue’s silhouette is inspired from the Creta and the two SUVs also see some price overlap. Therefore, it is only natural that some customers will compare the two SUVs to each other before making a purchase. That is why today we have brought to you the comparison between the two SUVs in the Indian market.

Starting from the front, one finds that the futuristic design of the Venue gives the smaller offering from the South Korean maker an advantage over its elder sibling. The waterfall grille and the LED DRLs give the sub compact SUV a distinct advantage over the more conventional setup of Creta. This can be attributed to the fresh design of the Venue only, since Creta has been in the market for a significantly longer time than the Venue, the looks of Creta are not that fresh when compared to Venue.

Moving on to the rear one finds that the Venue is the one trailing here as the small boot lid and the tail lamps that remind one of Volkswagen Polo are not as striking as the front of the vehicle is. The overall summary of Venue’s rear looks can be summed up as plain when compared to the rear of Creta. Although Creta’s design is dated, the Venue still does not match up to it when it comes to rear looks and the larger offering from the South Korean brand scores on looks as well as stance here.

Although, we mentioned before that there is a bit of pricing overlap between the two offerings from the South Korean maker, when compared variant wise, the prices are a lot far apart. While the Creta range starts at around Rs. 10 lakhs, the range for Venue starts at a very attractive points of Rs. 6.5 lakhs. Clearly, the vehicles belong to different segment and the price difference is very justified, but those with a small purse would sure pick up the Venue over the Creta, just like the brand intends.

Coming on to the engines, the Venue scores a point here as the the South Korean maker is offering a new 1 liter 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine rated to deliver 120 PS and 175 Nm. Whereas, the Creta comes with a 1.6L engine rated to deliver 121 Bhp and 151 Nm. Apart from the output advantage, the petrol engine also comes with the option of a 7-speed twin clutch gearbox, while Creta only comes with a relatively inferior 6 speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The 1.4L diesel engine on Venue is the same one that is offered on Creta, but the Creta pulls ahead with the 1.6L diesel engine rated for 126 Bhp and 260 Nm. However, at the end of the day what matters for the customer is the budget and only that is going to be the driving factor the consumer when making the choice between Creta and Venue, with the price difference in mind.
