Hyundai had proposed bringing the N quality sub-brand to India and now the i30 N Fastback will be on show at Auto Expo 2020.

At this year's Auto Expo Hyundai will have a very busy stand. Hyundai will introduce the all-new Creta and the Verna facelift, and launch the Tucson facelift in India, too. Now we've come to know that Hyundai will be exhibiting the i30 N Fastback at Auto Expo 2020, too.

The Hyundai i30 N was the first car to carry out a N output sub-brand from Hyundai. Then followed the 130 N Fastback, and eventually more models. The 130 N hot-hatch is based on a standard 130 hatchback (which is sold internationally) and then it gets several cosmetic and mechanical upgrades, this being a performance car.

Mechanically identical to the hot-hatch, the Fastback comes with a raked, coupe-like roofline, from where it gets its name. When comparison to the hatchback, the Fastback also sees the drag coefficient falling from 0.32Cd to 0.297Cd. The overall length also increased by about 120 mm.

The Hyundai i30 N Fastback is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which generates a peak torque of 275hp and 378Nm (353Nm with no overboost). It even comes equipped with an electronically limited slip differential (E-LSD), five drive modes-Eco, Standard, Sport, Sport N and N Custom-a rev-matching feature and launch power, all as normal equipment.

The braking, suspension, and also tires, all provided an improvement over the i30 hatchback model. Even the design, dashboard and on-board features allude to the car's sportiness.

Earlier in 2018, Hyundai was seen demonstrating the mainstream i30 hatchback in India and even the previous-gen variant was displayed at Auto Expo 2016. As a consequence, it had sparked speculation that Hyundai will carry the i30 N to India but that has not yet occurred. What is not a speculation is that Hyundai plans to bring the N value brand to India, and is supposed to launch it with the i30 N Fastback if that occurs. Hyundai's stand will also take the wraps off the Grand i10 Nios 1.0 turbo, along with the launch of the Tucson facelift and the unveiling of the next-gen Creta and Verna facelift.
