Hyundai India has listed the BS6 Elantra diesel on its official website ahead of the launch in the country.

Hyundai India has listed the BS6 Elantra sedan on its official website ahead of the launch in the country. Upon its introduction, BS6 Hyundai Elantra will be the only sedan in its segment to offer diesel variants as Honda Civic is only available with petrol engine while the opther two, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis, have already been discontinued in the Indian market. Though Skoda will launch the new-gen Octavia sedan next year with BS6 petrol and diesel engines, Toyota has not planned any replacement yet.

Hyundai Elantra diesel BS6 will only be presented in two trims: SX and SX (O). The former will be available with a manual gearbox while the latter will carry an automatic unit. Strangely, the South-Korean automaker has axed the based S grade from the Elantra lineup and hence by bringing the number of diesel variants to just a couple. The features of the Elantra BS6 diesel are the same as that of petrol. The SX variant gets six airbags, rear-view camera, auto headlamps, sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Blue Link connected car tech, cruise control etc. among others. The price is not announced yet, but we expect it to go on sale in the coming weeks.

Speaking of the Hyundai Elantra BS6 diesel SX (O) grade, it comes loaded with a myriad of premium features as it is the range-topping variant. The feature list will include powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, LED headlamps, wireless phone charger, leatherette upholstery and front parking sensors. All the aforementioned features will be in addition to the features of SX grade. Under the hood, it will boast of Hyundai's new BS6 compliant 1.5L engine which will develop a top power of 115bhp and peak torque of 250Nm. The engine will be offered with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Several Hyundai dealers have unofficially started taking orders for the sedan at a token amount of Rs 25,000.
