Hyundai Elite i20 is one among the top sellers in its segment and is a prime rival of the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The South Korean maker is working on an all new model of the Elite i20 to keep it fresh in the market and boost the sales of the ageing car in the market. The update for the car is long due and finally there are reports on the internet stating that the car has been spied testing out in the open for the first time. However, the spied model was heavily covered and only a few design changes are visible through the latest camouflaged shots of the hatch.
The photos in question here were taken near Hyundai's factory just outside of Chennai. Although the camouflaged photos do not reveal a lot about the hatch, the overall lining of the car remains the same as the model being sold in the market currently. Although one can expect the new model of the hatchback to come with more design changes that will lend it a distinct and fresh look in the market. Other aesthetic changes like the presence of new lamps and changed or spruced up exterior design features are also supposed to make an appearance on the new model of the hatchback in the Indian market. Although not visible that clearly, the side profile and rear end match the current model to a large extent. Some of the changes visible in these photos are sleek ORVMs, and new bumper design. Like the front headlights, the tail lights are also likely to be full LED units.
Hyundai has been known to load its cars with features and there should be no surprise if the South Korean maker takes the same route with the upcoming third generation models of Elite i20. Apart from the regular changes to the interiors, one can also expect a lot of new features to make their way to the latest model of the Elite i20. The new features could also include Hyundai's own BlueLink system that was recently unveiled in the market on the Venue. Apart from the new connected BlueLink infotainment system, the interiors could feature an all new design and theme as well.
Talking about the mechanical aspects of the upcoming Hyundai Elite i20, the company has already made it clear that unlike Maruti it will offer both diesel and petrol models of the hatchback in the market. The new engines on the Elite i20 will be updated to meet the BS-VI norms that will come into force from April 2020. There are also hopes that the latest turbo petrol engine introduced on the Venue in India will make an appearance on the Elite i20 as well. All other details of the car only remain speculative in nature as of now. With the new generation of Elite i20 scheduled to launch some time in 2020, expect more details of the car to come to the fore in the coming days.
