India made Hyundai i20 scored three-star rating in GNCAP test.

The Global NCAP conducted a test on the Hyundai i20 which is being sold in South Africa. This car is manufactured in India and it received a three-star adult occupant rating and a two-star rating for child occupants.

The car went through a front impact test at 64 km/hr and it scored 10.15 points out of 17. The structure and footwell of the vehicle were reported to be unstable. The test vehicle had a driver seatbelt reminder and seatbelt pre-tensioners for both front seats.

The car managed to score 2-star rating for child occupants and scored 18.16 out of 49 points. The lack of ISFOIX anchorages and limited protection to the three-year-old dummy resulted in the above score. The reports also mentioned that the structure of European made i20 is different than the Indian made i20. The equipment like side airbags, curtain airbags and ESC are standard on Euro-spec.
