Hyundai India Retains Title of Numero-Uno Passenger Vehicle Exporter

Hyundai exported 1.04 Lakh 'Made-in-India' units from Chennai facility between April 2020 - March 2021

Hyundai India has retained the coveted title of the country's leading exporter of passenger vehicles once again. Giving a thumbs-up to the 'Make-in-India' initiative of the Indian Government, the South-Korean automaker exported 1.04 Lakh units between April 2020 - March 2021. Additionally, the company exported more than 2 Lakh units of Creta and Venue to several overseas markets such as Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Nepal and Chile. The all-new Hyundai i20 was also exported to several key markets across Africa and Latin America region.

Commenting on the remarkable achievement, Mr. S S Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “Despite numerous challenges emerging out of the global pandemic, uncertainty in various markets, restriction on imports and disruption in supply-chain, HMIL has continued to drive operational excellence to ensure customer satisfaction. An export of 1 04 342 units in FY 20-21 stands testament to our indomitable spirit. It is a moment of great pride for Hyundai as we step forward in the journey of making world class quality cars from India. Our Smart Manufacturing Processes have led us to maintain our leadership position in passenger vehicle exports and strengthened our commitment to Make in India for the World.”

Recently, Hyundai started the export to Nepal via railways from Walajabad Railway Hub near Irungattukkottai, Chennai. The brand had surpassed the 3 million vehicle export milestone last year. It exports 'Made-in-India' cars to 32 countries in the South American continent, 28 countries in African continent and 26 countries in the Asia Pacific region. Moreover, one European nation and Mexico in the North American continent receive exported cars from India. Hyundai cars exported to these markets include Atos (Santro), Grand i10, Xcent, Grand i10 (Nios) & Grand i10 (Aura), i20, Accent (Verna), Venue and All New Creta. So far, it has won 7 EEPC National and 5 South region awards as top exporter of year for large enterprise category.
