The hybrid sedan secured an overall score of 91.98/100.

In the latest round of ASEAN NCAP crash tests, Hyundai’s Ioniq Hybrid scored five stars, with an overall 91.98 out of a total of 100. The car scored above average in adult occupancy, child occupancy and safety assist technology and systems.

The Singapore-spec model (manufactured in South Korea) is fitted with seven airbags, ABS, stability control, lane departure and forward collision warning, lane-keep assist and a blind-spot detection system. The Malaysian version of the car also gets the blind-spot monitoring system as an optional extra. Both were considered for this test.

Hyundai had earlier planned to launch the Hybrid Ioniq in India, but the revision in GST slabs last year increased taxes on hybrids, so the company decided against bringing it to our shores.
