The car’s design mirrors what Hyundai calls Sensuous Sportiness.

The Le Fil Rouge concept car was shown at the Geneva motor show and it will be the reference point for the company’s future design direction.

The new theme is called Sensuous Sportiness and it was used first to design the Kona, Nexo and Santa Fe SUVs. Hyundai says this design harmonises proportion, architecture, styling, and technology. “Our goal is to build Hyundai into a beloved brand by creating vehicles with heightened emotional value," said the company's head of styling, Sang Yup Lee.

Le Fil Rouge is French for 'common thread' and this concept's design is said to reflect this. "The concept is a reinterpretation of Hyundai’s design DNA that originated from the Coupé concept of 1974,” said Luc Donckerwolke, head of design. The concept comes with an aviation-inspired two-way air- conditioning system and trims made from revitalised wood. You also get a panoramic display for the infotainment system with haptic feedback for the driver, while rear passengers each get a touchscreen.

Hyundai's Sensuous Sportiness theme will be the basis of design now instead of the earlier Fluid Sculpture, which was first executed on the Sonata sedan in 2009.
