The refreshed i20 has even outsold the Grand i10.

The company has sold 13,319 units of the i20 in March, which is a rise of 7 percent. The 2018 Elite i20 has even outsold the company’s Grand i10 hatchback.

“We have seen a marginal shift towards premium models as buyers these days do try to push their limits a little,” said a company spokesperson. Demand for the diesel i20 has been more than the petrol. But the company expects sales of the petrol variants to pick up in the immediate future with buyer preferences changing.

The company is also going to bring in a locally assembled CVT gearbox for the petrol Elite i20 range. The car uses an 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol motor while the diesel variants are powered by a 90hp, 1.4-litre engine. There are two new colours on sale as well - Fiery Red and Passion Orange.
