Hyundai Santro will not replace the entry-level car Eon.

Hyundai Santro was launched on October 23 and this launch created the buzz that it will replace the Hyundai Eon. Many auto-experts expected that the company will discontinue the smallest car in the line-up, but it has been confirmed that the Santro will not replace the Eon.

The entry-level car, Eon made its debut in 2011 and since then it got minor updates. The company will launch the new generation of Eon in 2021 and the sales of the current Eon will not be halted. There are many changes that are expected to come in next-gen Eon. It will get new exterior design along with enhanced features and the company might bring the CNG variant and an optional AMT gearbox.

The Eon is available in two petrol engine options – a 0.8-litre engine that produces 55 BHP and 75 Nm of torque, while the 1.0-litre Kappa unit gives an output of 68 BHP and 94 Nm of torque. Both these engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and there isn’t an AMT available. Currently the Hyundai Eon rivals with Maruti Alto 800, Maruti Alto K10, Renault Kwid and Datsun redi-GO.
