Hyundai recently launched the latest generation of Grand i10 by the name of Grand i10 NIOS in the Indian market and the prices for the hatch start at Rs. 4.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the older Grand i10 had been getting long in the tooth for quite some time the latest Grand i10 NIOS more than makes up for the delay in update with the plethora of new features it comes with. Therefore, the rivals in the segment are going to have a tough time. However, the South Korean maker itself is making case for the Grand i10 NIOS being better in the segment. The brand claims that the Grand i10 NIOS is better than the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift in various ways. These are the counts on which Hyundai thinks that the Grand i10 NIOS outperforms the Maruti Swift.
Safety
The recent safety rules made mandatory by the government have brought the limelight to the safety regarding cars sold in India. All the makers in the market have been forced to update their cars as per the latest BNVSAP rules and Hyundai as well as Maruti are no exceptions. However, Hyundai claims that the Maruti Swift lags behind when it comes to the safety department on Grand i10 NIOS. The Grand i10 NIOS comes with ABS+EBD, emergency stop signal, and dual airbags with seatbelt pre-tensioners and impact sensing door locks as standard among others. To top all of this, the South Korean maker has also made sure that the NIOS complies with the upcoming pedestrian safety norms.
Infotainment System
All of a sudden, the tech innovation overtook the car market and the same infotainment systems that were once considered a luxury have now become a necessity on cars. In this department as well, Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS takes the cake as it has a segment leading 8-inch infotainment system. The touchscreen unit comes with Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity as well as voice recognition function. In contrast, Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with a 7-inch unit which does not have that many features to boast of.
Rear AC Vents
It was Hyundai that pioneered the rear AC vent feature in the mid-size hatchback segment and the same continues with the NIOS as well. Not just this, the rear AC vents in Grand i10 NIOS are also accompanies by a power outlet which is not offered by any other car in the segment as of now.
Maintenance
Hyundai is offering a range of warranty options with the Grand i10 NIOS. These include 3 Years/100,000 km plan, 4 Years /50,000 km plan, or 5 Years /40,000 km plan. Not just this the South Korean maker is also offering the Grand i10 NIOS customers with a free 3 year RSA plan which is better than Swift's 2 year RSA plan.
Chargers
Yes, the South Korean maker Hyundai is also offering wireless charging feature with its Grand i10 NIOS in the market. The wireless charging tech is increasingly becoming common in the phone market and having such a segment first feature in your car really makes the driving time more comfortable. Added to the wireless charger is the USB charging port which Hyundai claims is again a segment-first feature along with the wireless charging feature.
Shades
Yes, this time around the South Korean maker is offering the Grand i10 NIOS in 6 shades that include the option of dual tone paint for inside and well as outside. While the Swift comes with a customisation option, the customers have to pay extra for that.
5.3-inch Digital Speedometer
While the Grand i10 NIOS already has a lead in the infotainment department, the maker has left no stone unturned as the NIOS also comes with a 5.3-inch digital speedometer and cluster with Multi-Information Display (MID). The MID provides information on instantaneous fuel consumption, Trip meter, Distance to Empty, Average Fuel Consumption, Service Reminder, Average Vehicle Speed. This is again a segment first feature.
Cooled glove box
Yet another segment first feature as the Grand i10 NIOS comes with a cooled glove box which makes longer rides all the more comfortable.
i-Blue
While the Grand i10 NIOS is not a connected car, its 8-inch touch infotainment system can be controlled by the rear seat passengers via their smartphones, and this is yet another feature that all other cars in the segment lack.
Arkamys Sound
In car entertainment has always been a feature that Indians love and Hyundai has gone ahead with an Arkamys sound unit in the Grand i10 NIOS that comes with 4 speakers. This is again a segment first feature and will definitely make the cabin of the car a nice place to be in.
