Hyundai Verna, Hyundai’s flagship sedan has scored 5-star Global NCAP rating in a crash test recently where the automaker provides both child and adult protection.

Hyundai Verna, the most-loved sedan in the country, has scored a 5-star Global NCAP rating in a crash test recently. The Hyundai Vern was tested in its most basic passive safety stipulation. Do you know what makes a Hyundai Verna after getting such an optimal rating? This Global NCAP crash rating makes Hyubdai Verna the first made in India automobile to fetch 5-stars in a crash test. We witnessed the new-gen Hyundai Verna launch earlier this year and it is performing quite well as per the records. 


The Safer Cars For India Campaign by Global NCAP ahead of Bharat’s NCAP’s activation led this to Verna’s final test result in a voluntary test taken by the automobile. Hyundai Verna sedan comes with equipped ESC or electronic stability control along with 6 airbags for higher safety.   

Impacts of Global NCAP Crash Test on Hyundai Verna

For adult passengers, if we talk about the frontal impact on the sedan, the crash test result showed that the safety provided to driver and other passenger neck and head was quite good where the chest of driver reflected huge protection and chest of other passenger reflected overall good protection. Knees of both driver and passenger reflected significant protection, furthermore, the footwell area was rated as unstable. The body shell was straightforwardly given rating as unstable and it is not able to withhold anymore loading. 

If we talk about the side impact, head, abdomen, and pelvis reflected overall good protection while chest area showed sufficient protection.

Now, if we consider children seated as passengers, the child-seat perfected for a 3-year old passenger was able to impede head exposure during the frontal impact providing full protection. And the seat for an 18-month old child was able to secure head exposure during the frontal impact providing full protection. After considering the side impact, both of the CRS provided full protection.  

The sedan car in all versions provides 3-point belts in all of the seating positions as a standard measure. The marking warning about rearward facing CRS in the front passenger position fulfils the requirements. It does nor provide the chance to disconnect the passenger airbag incase of a rearward facing CRS will be installed in this very position. The installation of CRS fulfilled the criteria and passed for all tested CRS.
