Hyundai recently announced that the Creta has crossed the one lakh mark in sales since its launch in 2015. New reports suggest that the car may soon be receiving a facelift. The changes may be mostly cosmetic, though the engine power is expected to be tweaked too. The facelifted Creta is rumoured to hit Indian roads sometime late next year.
The design of the facelifted Creta will be more in tune with the new Hyundais in the market right now, with the addition of the Hyundai's trademark grille at the front. It is also expected to take design inspiration from the Brazilian-spec Creta revealed at the Sao Paulo auto show last year. It will be powered by the same engines the present Creta but tweaked for better performance. It is being speculated that mild-hybrid technology will be utilised to reap the benefits offered by the government for hybrids in India. In fact, Hyundai has already started working on the Creta's replacement and hopes to have the model ready by 2021. The second-gen model is expected to feature a seven-seat version alongside a regular five-seater to offer wider appeal and reach for the SUV.
